URBANARA particularly values the people behind its products, who with their knowledge and many years of experience of traditional manufacturing techniques make each individual product something very special. Thus, all carpets come directly from communities in India. Since the start of the company, URBANARA's design and purchasing team has regularly traveled to India for inspiration on new rug designs, maintaining direct contact with the manufacturers. URBANARA shares a very close bond with the culture and people of India: "We fell in love with the country and its diverse culture from the very first moment and knew that it was the best place for our rug production." (URBANARA)
Close cooperation with Indian craftspeople
This close cooperation with the local craftspeople has the highest priority for URBANARA, so that the carpets can be manufactured under fair conditions. This is to preserve local handicrafts and to maintain local traditions in order to maintain and create jobs and perspectives in the community in Indian villages in the future.
To guarantee a conscientious and responsible story behind the carpets, URBANARA cooperates with various certification bodies. In this context, the Care & Fair certificate stands for fair working conditions and guarantees that no child labor is tolerated.
Fundraising campaign from 21 December 2020 until 1 January 2021
With this year's fundraising campaign, URBANARA wants to do something good with the help of its customers. Therefore, the brand will donate 1.5 percent of the total invoice amount of every order placed between 21 December 2020 and 31 January 2021 to two social institutions located in the same vicinity as URBANARA rug makers: Model Upper Primary School and to Ramkrishna Sevashram Hospital in Mirzapur.
